Canberra hosted this year’s Australian National Championships over 6 days in October. This year we had a team of 16 dancers participating throughout the week in both solo and team events.
Our RAID family had a great time, not only competing themselves but also supporting their team mates and getting inspiration from some of Australia’s best dancers.
This year we had several first time solo competitors taking to the stage. Congratulations to Alexie, Annie, Bianca and Imogen on this big milestone in your dancing careers!
All our solo competitors have worked exceptionally hard throughout the year, and all danced two rounds to be proud of. Several were lucky enough to get that coveted recall, meaning they were called back for the final round.
We saw some great personal bests too, with Natalie placing 34th (and finally getting that recall), Emma in 30th and Alex 25th. Hannah placed an amazing 9th – finally cracking that top 10!
The competition finished off on Sunday afternoon with our Senior Mixed Figure who again put on a great performance and secured 6th place in an exceptionally strong (and entertaining) section.
We also had the chance to take advantage of some down time between the dancing! Several of our families squeezed in trips to the Australian War Memorial, Questacon and Parliament House. And of course – no Nationals is complete without the final ceili!
