Last week a small team of dancers from the Roberts Academy headed to Perth for the 2022 Australian National Championships. This was our first Nationals in three years, as 2020 & 2021 had to be cancelled due to Covid restrictions.

Nationals was run over 5 days; with international adjudicators, live musicians, and over 600 competitors from all over the country.

Although our team was small, they did an amazing job. Both dancers have been training hard over the last few years to prepare and were thrilled to finally step out on that stage. They each danced three strong rounds. Tyson placed an amazing second at his first ever Nationals, and Alex came away with her highest Nationals placing yet - 13th in a beautiful section.

With the dancing over, it also gave a bit of a chance to unwind and explore Perth. The group took a trip out to Fremantle to explore & enjoy a team dinner by the water.

Now it’s back to Adelaide for a well earned break.. though thoughts are already turning to next year’s Nationals in Sydney!
